Unlike most other companies in Bhutan, we do not sub-contract our trekking operations. Whether it is individual or group, all our treks are serviced by ourselves. Wind Horse Treks are accompanied by the best local team you can get in Bhutan. The crew, include one experienced Trekking Guide, a well trained and experienced cook and there will be one or more ‘waiters’ who serve food, handle the kitchen chores and set up camps. They are in addition to the horsemen or Yakmen, who also pitch in. For larger groups, the number of crew member and horseman also increases. Our trekking crews are organized into teams and they have been applauded for their professionalism and friendliness. No one has ever left Bhutan trek without appreciating and making friendship with our trekking team.



Trekking Operations in Bhutan is under the leadership of Kinga Dechen. Ugen Tshering, based mostly in our US office is responsible for promotion.

Ugen, native of Bhutan has trekked all over country as well as in Nepal, Tibet, Pakistan, Indian Himalayas and Central Asian countries as trek leader and in other capacities. He is truly passionate about outdoor and even in his new adopted home, he spends the summer -weekends hiking and camping with his kids and repeats the same when he returns to Bhutan each year. So when he talks about trekking, he really knows about it.



Kinga Dechen
Kinga has also trekked all over Bhutan several times over the last 14 years, including Snowman Trek. He knows every trail, best cooks, dependable horsemen or yakmen as the case may be. He can put together the most well organized trek of lifetime in Bhutan that you come back to cherish forever. In addition to his hands-on-experience, Kinga has been trained in Bhutan, Thailand, Israel and in Austria for trekking and tourism management.
