CURRENT CONDITIONS AND 5 Day FORECAST FOR
Thimphu, Bhutan
http://weather.cnn.com

(Thimphu weather forecast)

The Weather Channel senses from Pagri China. Pagri is just across the border in Tibet, close to Jumolhari base camp . Although this is not actually in Bhutan, it may give trekkers going to the high alpine areas a good idea of the weather to expect. Visit Weather.com

If you are trekking: At altitudes of 8,000 to 10,000 feet, daytime temperatures can be in the 50Fs and 60Fs. Nights are cool to cold, often in the 40Fs.Clouds often form in the afternoons, disappearing at night to reveal brilliantly starry skies. At altitudes over 10,000 feet, weather is unpredictable. Daytime temperatures at these heights can be in the 60Fs but also as low as the 30s and 40s in the daytime if it is windy. Temperatures drop very quickly when the sun goes down, and evening/nighttime temperatures at high altitudes often drop to around 15F and sometimes lower. Snow is not uncommon at higher elevations. Above 14,5000 feet, many areas are permanently covered with snow. High altitude weather can be unpredictable, with the wind chill sometimes creating conditions well below freezing. Sudden storms can occur at any time.
