Phulchowki hill day hike is one of the most beautiful day hikes near Kathmandu. Phulchowki is the highest hill (2782m) surrounding the Kathmandu valley. Phulchowki is located about 14km to the southeast of Kathmandu in Lalitpur district. The Phulchowki hill day hike is popular regarding vegetation and bird watching.
There are approximately 250 species of birds and 570 species of plants. Spring is the best season for this hike as the hill gets covered with wildflowers and different species of rhododendrons. On the hilltop is a small shrine of Phuchowki Mai, sacred to the Hindus and Buddhists. The hilltop provides a panoramic view of mountain ranges, including Annapurna, Gauri Shanker, Langtang, Ganesh, Jugal, and even Everest to the far east.
At the foot of the hill is the Godavari Botanical Garden. Godavari Botanical garden is a popular picnic spot for locals and foreigners alike. The Botanical garden has a notable collection of different plants: including various species of orchids, ferns, and over 570 varieties of flora.

After breakfast at the hotel, drive for about an hour to Godavari, the starting point of our hike. The hike begins from the Godavari over a well-maintained trekking trail. The trail goes through thick forests of oak, rhododendron, and several species of orchids, with the melodies of birds chirping. The hike to the hilltop is worth the effort as it provides a breathtaking view of Kathmandu valley and the surrounding Himalayas. We will spend some time capturing the beautiful views and then retrace our hike back to Godavari and visit the Botanical garden. After the visit, transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu.
