The Everest Base Camp Trek with Gokyo via Chola Pass is an exceptional journey that combines the renowned Everest Base Camp Trek with the breathtaking scenery of the Gokyo valley. Initially this trek traces the well-established path of the classic EBC route, the trek diverges after Kalapatthar, leading towards the serene Gokyo valley. This detour offers a quieter and more serene experience in contrast to the traditional Everest Base Camp route, enabling you to explore along a less frequented trail.
What sets the Everest Base Camp Trek with Gokyo via Chola Pass apart is its circular loop design, minimizing backtracking until Sanasa, where it rejoins the classic route again. Throughout this expedition, you get to embrace all the highlights of the classic route while reveling in the added charm of the breathtaking Gokyo Valley.
Upon reaching Kalapatthar, the journey diverges from the classic Everest Base Camp route, through the Cho La Pass via Dzongla and culminates at Gokyo. Gokyo Ri presents some of Nepal’s most spectacular sights. The adventure then unfolds further as you explore the stunning 4th & 5th Gokyo Lakes. This segment of the trek unveils Cho Oyu’s base camp and Ngozumpa, the longest glacier in the Himalayas.
Following this, the trail descends to Dzongla before crossing Cho La Pass at an elevation of 5420 meters, one of the three high passes in the Khumbu region. Subsequently, you will descend and reconnect with the main classic Everest Base Camp trail at Sanasa, and continue towards Namche Bazaar.
Throughout this trek, you’ll encounter a unique and awe-inspiring perspective of the Everest region’s natural beauty, accompanied by its challenging terrains and breathtaking vistas that define this renowned trekking experience.
