Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek combines the spectacular Langtang valley with the high altitude lakes of Gosainkunda. A fabulous journey across the extraordinary Himalayan landscape, a pristine valley protected within the Langtang National Park. A region of highly impressive Himalayan landscapes valleys and alpine meadows with exceptional views of lofty peaks like Langtang Lirung, Gaurishankar, Sishapangma, Ganjala, etc. are the major features of this wonderful trekking route. This region is mostly populated by the Tamang people one of the oldest Cultural groups of Nepal.
The journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, a small village situated on the outskirt of the Langtang National Park. The journey continues through beautiful oak and rhododendron forest along the Langtang Khola to the Sherpa village of Kyanjin Gompa. From Langtang valley the journey shift towards the holy lakes of Gosaikunda across the Lauribina La Pass(4610m)with stunning views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, and the other surrounding peaks. Gosainkunda lake basin consists of about a dozen lakes considered holy to the Hindus. After crossing the Lauribina La Pass once again the trail goes down to Sing Gompa, Dhunche, and back to Kathmandu
Day 1. Arrival in Kathmandu.
Upon arrival, our guide/representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your designated hotel. As no activity is planned for this day, depending on your arrival time you can either relax at your hotel or take a short walk to visit the streets of Kathmandu. Evening dinner at a traditional Nepali Restaurant. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 2. In Kathmandu(trek preparation).
Today in the first half we shall visit some of the major UNESCO World Heritage Sites within the city, which may include Pasupatinath temple, Boudanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. The later part of the day we shall keep as preparation and planning for the trek. Overnight in hotel.
Day 3. Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m/7-8 hrs)
After breakfast drive to Syabrubesi via Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche. The drive goes along a winding mountain road with views of beautiful landscapes and the snow-covered mountains in the background. Overnight in trekkers lodge.
Day 4. Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,380m/6 hrs)
Today the trail goes along the Langtang river across forests of oak and rhododendron, verdant meadows and several Tamang villages, a stunning vista of great Himalayan peaks, and finally ascends through Rimche and end at Lama Hotel. Overnight in trekkers lodge.
Day 5. Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village(Sherpagaon/Mundu 3543m/6-7 hrs)
We begin with a gentle ascend above the Langtang Khola but soon turns into a steep climb. The trail goes through rhododendron and pine forest with the view of the Langtang Lirung and further up to the meadows of Ghoda Tabela. Further on, the route opens up into a wide valley of yak pastures and scattered Tamang villages with water-driven mills and prayer wheels. Depending on the time we shall either halt for the night at Sherpagaon or Mundu village. Overnight in trekkers lodge.
Day 6 Mundu/Sherpagaon to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m/4-5 hrs)
The trail passes across water run mills, prayer wheels, chortens, streams, wooden bridges, and moraines until we reach Kyanjn Gompa. After lunch, we could either choose to rest or visit the monastery, cheese factory and explore around the village with beautiful views of Langtang Lirung, Kyanjin RI, Tserko RI, Langshisha Ri, Yala Peak, and others. Overnight in trekkers lodge.
Day 7. Excursion to Tserko Ri (5000m/5-6 hrs)
The trail begins from a flat path but soon turns into a steep climb as we proceed further, the climb gets more difficult and tough until the summit. The summit of Tserko Ri provides a stunning 360° view of Langtang valley and the snow-covered peaks making it the most unforgettable experience of our life. After spending some time at the summit, we will descend and retrace our steps back to Kyanjin Gompa. Overnight in trekkers lodge.
Day 8. Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel(6-7 hrs)
Today we retrace our steps back to Lama Hotel. The trail is mostly downhill passing through forests and villages with the view of the snow-covered peaks along the way. Overnight in trekkers lodge.
Day 9. Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2260m/6hrs)
Today we begin with a gentle descent down to the river through beautiful pine and Junipers forests and then it is a steep climb to Thulo Syabru.Thulo Syabru Gaun is a lovely village that has preserved the ethnic custom, culture, and tradition of the Tamang people. Enjoy the magnificent view of nature with splendid views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, and other peaks. Overnight in trekkers lodge.
Day 10. Thulo Syabru to Sing Gomba(3330m/5hrs)
Leaving Thulo Syabru we ascend steeply uphill through forests of oak, hemlock and rhododendron across pasture lands to the ridge at Phoprang. And from here the trail goes across the ridge top and finally ascends to Sing Gompa. Overnight in trekkers lodge.
Day 11. Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda(4460m/5-6hr)
The trail ascends gently up to Lauribina Pass and from here it is a steep uphill walk with good views of west Himal chuli, Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal range, and other peaks of Langtang Lirung. After a short break at Lauribina Pass, we continue our journey and reach a small ridge, from where we shall have the first views of the holy lakes. There are about a dozen lakes in the Gosaikunda basin of which Saraswatikunda, Bhairavkunda, and Gosainkunda are the prominent ones. Overnight in trekkers lodge.
Day 12. Gosaikunda to Sing Gomba.
After witnessing the beautiful sunrise view along with the panoramic view of the Himalayas. We visit the holy lakes and retrace our step back to Lauribina la pass. From here it is a steep descent over a rough trail with some up and down on several stretches to Ghopte. Overnight in trekkers lodge.
Day 13. Sing Gomba to Dhunche(1962m/5-6hrs)
The trail descends through pine, rhododendron, and bamboo forest to reach Deurali. From Deurali descend further through dense forest and cross the river and finally arrive at Dhunche. Explore the village area and learn about the culture, customs, tradition, and lifestyle of Tamang people. Overnight in trekkers lodge.
Day 14. Dhunche to Kathmandu (6-7hrs)
The drive to Kathmandu goes through foothills, terraced fields, and small villages and towns. Upon reaching Kathmandu check into your hotel and rest and relax. Overnight in hotel.
Day 15. Departure
Transfer to the airport for departure flight.
