Manang Tilicho lake trek provides you with an opportunity to explore the hidden natural aspects of the Annapurna region. Tilicho lake situated at an altitude of 4919m in the Manang district is considered to be one of the highest lakes in the world. This lake is fed by the glacial melt of the northern slopes of the Annapurna and the Thorong peak. This lake is sacred to the Hindus and thousands of pilgrims visit this lake every year to take a holy bath in the holy waters of this lake.

This trek begins with a long drive from Kathmandu to Jagat via Besi Sahar(210kms/6-7hrs). The trek begins from Jagat. The trail passes through several villages inhabited by a wide diversity of people from different ethnic backgrounds, spectacular mountain views, gorges and waterfalls, sacred temples, monasteries, and tranquil lakes. Explore villages along the way and learn about the tradition, culture, and lifestyle of the local people.

This trek can also be combined with the Annapurna Circuit Trek as per your interest. It follows the regular Annapurna Circuit Trek route until Manang. From Manang, the trail branches off towards Khangsar village and to Tilicho lake and return via Yak Kharka and join the regular Annapurna Circuit route.

Outline Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival in Kathmandu.
Upon arrival at the airport, our guide/representative will meet you and transfer you to your designated hotel. As there are no activities planned for today, you may either enjoy the evening at leisure or take a self-guided tour around the city. Overnight in hotel.

Day 2. In Kathmandu(trek preparation).
After breakfast half day sightseeing in and around Kathmandu city. We visit some of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the city this may include Boudhanath Stupa (the largest Buddhist shrines in the world), Pashupatinath (a Hindu temple dedicated to lord shiva), Durbar Squares (Palaces and fortresses of medieval Kings). After sightseeing, we will have a short briefing on planning and preparing for the trek. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 3. Kathmandu to Jagat(1290m/7-8 hrs)
The drive today will perhaps be the longest in this trip, it will take about 7-8 hours depending on the road condition. The road goes across forests, riverbanks, several villages, and small towns. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 4. Jagat to Tal(1700m/5-6 hrs)
From Jagat, the trail follows the Marsyangdi River. After crossing the suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi river, the trail climbs steep uphill and finally through a gradual flat land until Tal. The first village in Manang district with beautiful views. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 5. Tal to Chame(2650m/5-6hrs)
The trail to Chame is a steep ascent through forests of pine, spruce, hemlock, maple, and oak across several small villages. As we approach Chame we get the beautiful views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 6. Chame to Upper Pisang (3350m/6hrs)
Leaving Chame, the trail cuts through a thick tropical forest, and from here the trail is steep uphill to the upper Marshyangdi valley. Following the river valley, we descend to Lower Pisang, cross over the suspension bridge and climb up the hill to Upper Pisang, which offers beautiful views of the Annapurna II. Day 7. Upper Pisang to Braga(3400m/5-6 hrs)
Today we will continue uphill for about 2 hours to reach Ghyaru. Ghyaru offers stunning views of Annapurna II, IV, Gangapurna, and Lamjung Himal. After enjoying the views over a cup of tea we will continue over a gentle slope to Ngawal. From Ngawal it is a steep downhill walk followed by a pleasant gradual walk to Braga. Day 8. Braga to Manang(3519m/2 hrs)
This morning visit the Braga monastery, it is a steep uphill hike, the view of the quaint village homes, lush green fields, and the mighty Annapurna range is quite amazing. Today we will spend the whole day taking some walks to acclimatize. We shall hike to a higher altitude during the day and return in the afternoon. There are several options, we can take a day trip to Praken Gompa or hike to Chongkor viewpoint. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 9. Manang to Shreekharka (3900m/5 hrs)
Today’s journey is a slow and uphill ascend until the suspension bridge, from here it is a steep ascent for about 2 hours until Khangsar village. Lunch will be served at Khangsar and from Khangsar it is another uphill ascend for about two hours to Shree Kharka. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 10. Shreekharka to Tilicho Base Camp(4150m/5-6hrs)
The trek to Tilicho Base Camp is a gentle one except for some ups and downs on some stretches. Just before reaching the Base camp, we will come across the landslide area where we need to be extra cautious against falling rocks. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 11. Excursion to Tilicho lake(4920m)-Shree Kharka.
Today we will start very early to avoid the wind, from the Base Camp it is about 3 hours of steep uphill hike and another hour of gentle gradual ascend to reach the Lake. After we spend some time at the lake we descend the same way to the Base Camp. After breakfast, we retrace our hike back to Shree Kharka for overnight. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 12. Shree Kharka to Manang.
After breakfast retrace our hike back to Manang. Overnight in hotel.

Day 13. Manang to Lower Pisang(3250m/5-6 hrs)
From Manang, we walk back to Lower Pisang crossing the flat trail in 5-6 hours. Overnight in trekkers lodge/guest house.

Day 14. Lower Pisang to Pokhara(6-7 hrs).
The drive to Pokhara is another of the longest drive on this trip. It will take about 6-7 hours or more to cover a distance of 183kms.  Overnight in hotel.

Day 15. In Pokhara.
Early morning drive to Sarangkot to watch the sunrise over the Annapurna and the Machhapuchre himal. After observing the sunrise view return back to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, we will have a full day’s tour in Pokhara. Begin with a boat ride for 1 hr at the Phewa lake, after the ride hike to the World Peace Pagoda for the beautiful view of Pokhara valley and the Phewa lake. Hike downhill from a different route and meet the vehicle, visit Gupteshwor cave, Davis falls, and the Tibetan Refugee Camp. Afternoon visits the International Mountain Museum, the evening is free to stroll around the lakeside and browse the shops. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 16. Pokhara to Kathmandu.
From Pokhara, you can either choose to drive back to Kathmandu or fly back to Kathmandu (extra cost). Overnight in hotel

Day 17. Departure.
Transfer to the airport for departure.
