A decade back, a female guide was a rare commodities in Tourism. Guiding as a career was predominantly a male bastion. But with time, women are foraying into this arena. But still only handful guide can be seen in Bhutan. Wind Horse Tours has 4 female guides, 2 as cultural specialist and other 2 as trekking as well as cultural.
Galey Pem is one among 4 female guides. She is a native of Langong village in Paro. She started guiding since 2007. After her stint with other travel companies like BTCL and Aman Resort. She joined Wind Horse Tours in 2014.
She says her hobby is to travel and to read books.
