“I was met on arrival in Paro by representatives of the Wind Horse Tours, who immediately made me feel at home. Throughout my stay in Bhutan nothing was too much trouble for them. Things did not always go to plan, eg the car broke down and the itinerary had to be revised to take account of the new situation. Choki, my expert guide worked hard, and successfully, to overcome this temporary disruption to our plans. And overcome we did. We simply re-arranged our itinerary to take account of this minor inconvenience, and got on with the trip. Whilst this may sound simple, it did require changing hotels reservations, cars, etc and the fact that this occurred without any negative impact on the holiday, (for I still saw and did everything I’d planned to) and this was only possible by good team working underpinned by a strong sense of corporate responsibility. Many people might view this type of occurrence negatively. But it had an upside. It allowed me an unexpected opportunity to visit an extra town and its Dzong, and to observe local people going about their temple business. A companies strength is its people. I spent nearly a week in Bhutan and my guide and driver, who were both absolutely first rate, thorough professionals, and extremely knowledgeable about their country, worked with genuine enthusiasm to ensure that I had the trip of a life time.
