Gangtey Ranch

Phobjikha Valley · home of the black-necked cranes

A farmhouse ranch in Bhutan's great glacial valley

We opened our second ranch in 2018, a year after acquiring a traditional farmstead in Phobjikha. The farmhouse, with sweeping views over the valley and Gangtey Gompa, is home to our caretakers and the base for ranch operations.

Closer to Paro and Thimphu, Gangtey quickly became our busiest ranch. The valley is known for its natural beauty, its culture and as the winter home of the endangered black-necked cranes.

Open landscapes, quiet wetlands and old monasteries surround the ranch, and it is a favourite with guests at nearby lodges such as Gangtey Lodge, Aman and Six Senses. Over 15 well-trained, friendly horses make it ideal for day rides, photography outings and relaxed exploring.
