Varkala
Varkala is a nice seaside resort on the Arabian sea, situated 40km north of Trivandrum. Varkala's prime attraction is the beach as well its nice long high Cliffs with mineral springs. It is a more laid-back alternative Kovalam beach. The place is also famous for its sun rise and sun set that many parts of Kerala doesn't experience. Apart from this, Varkala is also one of the famous Hindu Pilgrimage centre being the eternal resting place of the eminent social reformer Sri Narayana Guru (great sage & the most revolutionary social reformer). The tourist attractions here include - to name a few is the Papanasam Beach, the Janardhana Temple, Sivagiri Mutt & Anjengo Fort. The place is also famous for its Yoga and Ayurveda activities available at traditional treatment centers or the hotels/resorts.
