We are an American family living in Hong Kong. Our kids are 10 and 7 and after a series of island vacations, we wanted to give the kids a different trip, a real travel experience. Our trip to Bhutan was, by far, the most rewarding, educational, and spiritual family trip we’ve taken. After posting almost daily amazing photos on Facebook, friends have asked how I planned this trip, and I owe it all to Wind Horse Tours. Jambay listened to the kind of experiences we wanted (see local culture, understand Bhutanese daily life) and assigned us a dynamic duo who worked well with families with young children. Sonam Pelden guided us through cities and villages, through countless “dzongs” and hikes, patiently explaining and engaging the kids in local Bhutanese history and culture. Sonam was masterful in the ways he shared Buddhist stories to help MadDash understand the religion. They were always eager for a story from Uncle Sonam. Driving around Bhutan is not easy; in fact it’s quite treacherous. Our driver Yamraj, proved to us why he is affectionately called “0007.” He skillfully navigated us around western Bhutan, eyes on the road of course, but somehow always managed to spot a rare bird or animal that we should pull over and see. Thank you so much Sonam and 0007! We hope to see you again!
