Jambay Lhakhang Drup is a four-day festival held in the premises of the 7th-century Jambay Lhakhang temple in Jakar, Bumthang. It commemorates the establishment of the temple in the 7th century and pays homage to Guru Rinpoche. Alongside traditional mask dances, the festival features unique performances, including the sacred naked dance called Ter Cham and the fire blessing known as Mewang. The fire blessing and dance, held in the evening, where to bless infertile women in hopes of aiding conception. The festival’s dances, mostly composed by Terton Pema Lingpa, the renowned treasure discoverer of the 15th century, reflect the rich cultural heritage of the valley.
