Pemagatshel Tsechu

Pemagatshel Tsechu takes place in the spacious square in front of the Pemagatsel Dzong, the district’s administrative center. Located in eastern Bhutan, Pemagatsel is slightly off the main highway between Tashigang and Samdrup Jongkhar. The district is renowned for its vibrant cultural scene, including numerous festivals and traditional folk songs like the Ausa, sung during farewells. Since the dzong’s construction in the early 1980s, the annual Tshechu has been celebrated over a three-day period, further enriching the district’s cultural tapestry.
