The Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon commemorates the first successful ascent of Everest by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary on May 29, 1953. It is the highest marathon on earth and is held every year on 29th May in the Everest region. The Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon is an international high-altitude adventure sport. The marathon begins from the Everest Base Camp and goes mostly downhill across the Khumbu valley all the way to Namche Bazaar.

Runners from all walks of life participate in this event, highly professional runners to new runners can participate in this event. Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon is not just a running event, it is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The 2021 edition is the 17th edition of this magnificent event. Runners from all over the world can participate as per their desired categories Extreme Ultra(60 km), Full Marathon(42 km), and Half Marathon(21 km).

One of the essential features of Everest Marathon is trekking to Everest Base Camp before the start of the race.
