Anand and colleagues at Wind Horse,
My husband and I were thrilled to have visited Deeg.  Although, it was in a terrible state of disrepair it was beautiful and very interesting.  We were delighted to be in a location that did not have many, many tourists.  It was interesting because it was more ‘contemporary’ and the water features would be beautiful if the trash was removed.   We enjoyed seeing a smaller town, but would have been uncomfortable “strolling in the village”  of Deeg.  Are they prepared  to welcome foreigners??
We enjoyed staying in the old section of  Laxmi Vilas Palace in Bharatpur, it was beautiful and amusing since we were the only guests.
Our guide and driver for the tour were both excellent and exceptional.  Hemant Simariya/Raj was an awesome  historian which added so much to the visit.  We were also very grateful to the driver for delivering us safely to our destinations and providing us with cool water which we relished when we returned to the car.  (Yes, we knew it was going to be very hot in India.)
I enjoyed meeting the local host family and having a meal at their house.  I cook Indian food,  so the cooking demonstration was not new information, but would probably be even more interesting to those who do not prepare curries and chapati themselves.   It was fun to be in a home and meet the family members.
My favorite sites were Jantar Mantar and Amer/Amber Fort, and my husband said the Taj Mahal was more beautiful than he expected.
Kind regards,
Linda
