A trip to city of lakes – Udaipur in the royal state of Rajasthan in India can certainly be a lifetime of experience. The city of Udaipur was founded by Maharana Udai singh in the year 1559.The city of Udaipur is not known only because of its sheer beauty but equally famous for its stunning lakes, amazing palaces amidst lakes, innumerable gardens, charming temples and markets loaded with enough attractions to compel you to take the souvenirs home. There is no dearth of tourist attraction in the city of Udaipur.

The principal attraction in the city; happens to be the Hotel Lake Palace, a luxury hotel now but erstwhile a palace surrounded by water and was constructed by Maharana Jagat Singh. An awe-inspiring view of the palace situated on the lake Pichhola; is enhanced immensely in the night because of array of lights focused on the structure of the Palace. It mesmerizes the onlooker completely by its grandeur.

City Palace is another major attraction in the city of Udaipur. This palace was constructed by Maharana Udai Singh and features among the list of the world’s largest palaces. The amalgamation of two distinctive forms of architectures i.e. Mughal and Rajputana; captivate the heart of tourists. This grand palace comprises eleven palaces, a Durbar Hall and a magnificent museum.

Jag Mandir is another magnificent palace and was built by Maharaja Karan Singh on the banks of Lake Pichola. The main attraction of this palace lies in the stone statuette of elephants and eye-catching Chattris or Cenotaphs.

In addition to the series of palaces, a visit to Sajjan Garh Palace is a must as its enchanting view reminds the bystander of a diadem on the rocky hill’s head. This mammoth palace was built by Maharaja Sajjan Singh and is bequeathed with great picturesque sight of the city of lakes.

In the city of lakes, Fateh Sagar is really stunning lake and it was built by Maharana Fateh Singh to add charm to the exquisiteness of the city, Udaipur. Fateh Sagar is located in the contiguous area of Lake Pichola and Nehru Park, an astounding park in between the lake with a boat-shaped café. Lake Pichola is the most conspicuous and gorgeous lake in Udaipur. The magnetism of this lake lies in the Shikarbadi. The two enticements; the Jag Mandir and the Jag Niwas are situated in this lake. The Lake Pichola is connected with an arch bridge with the Swaroop Sagar Lake.

The gardens for leisure and joy are in abundance in the city of Udaipur but a visit to Saheliyon Ki Bari and the Gulab Bagh is a must for every tourist as it is the garden with a lotus pool, verdant green lawns, and fountains which presents fabulous sights.

The Gulab Bagh is quite popular among the children as this garden has a Zoo and a toy train for their entertainment. The city of lakes -Udaipur is a shopper’s paradise as one can buy traditional local toys, dyed Saris, wooden handicrafts, printed textiles, metal articles and plenty of other gift items can be purchased as parting souvenir to treasure the reminiscence of this beautiful city forever.
