Losar the Tibetan New Year is shared also by the Sikkimese and marked with lot of gaiety and festivity. It falls normally in the month of February. The Tibetan youths take to the streets on this day performing the Yak dance and throwing Tsampa as a way of greeting and welcoming the New Year with shouts of “Tashi Delek”. The celebration goes on for more than a week and there are usually some cultural events in each locality. Guests are welcomed in homes during the Losar celebrations to feast with the family and you may also be welcomed as you pass them.
