Stonday Gustor is a famous festival celebrated in the Himalayan region of Ladakh, India. This annual celebration is held in July in the Stongday monastery in the Zanskar region.  It’s a vibrant and colorful festival observed by the Buddhist community, particularly followers of the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The Stongday festival is celebrated with great pomp and show, and a highlight is the sacred dance performed by the monastery’s monks. These masked dances (chams) depict various aspects of Buddhist mythology and teachings. It’s a significant cultural event that attracts locals and tourists to witness the traditional rituals and festivities. Every year, hundreds of tourists plan their Ladakh itineraries to accommodate the Stongday Gustor celebrations in their tour.
