Tashi Wanchuck is a young guy on the block. It is still a sort of tradition here for every one particularly for fresher
graduate to enroll for the guiding course, which is still in vogue. Tashi was no exception. He claims that it offers a whole new horizon in terms of learning experience. He not just explains the tradition, cultural, social setup that his job demands. Also he gets to know & learn about the guests’ different social backdrop.
The launchpad of his career as guide started from Wind Horse Tours and he is still going strong. And his ride for last 8 years as guide has been enriching , he remarks!!….

Hi Anand,
We had a wonderful trip. We just wish we’d been able to stay in Bhutan longer. Wangchuk was incredible. I can’t say enough good things about him. He made accommodations for me when I was not able to do certain things. He also helped me surprise Jon for his birthday which was very special. Wangchuk also arranged for us to have a hot rocks spa session, which we really enjoyed. Mr. Tinley, our driver, was also great. He really helped take care of me and I felt safe while he was driving.
The only thing that I had any issues with was the food. The buffets grew very monotonous because it was the same thing day after day after day. Sometimes the food was hot, sometimes it was cold. When we got to Thimphu and had lunch, they served us a mushroom dish, which we specifically said we don’t eat. It’s not that big of a deal because we just didn’t eat that dish, but it was surprising. Sometimes it would be nice to order a la carte instead of having the buffet.
The hotels were nice. They were comfortable. I don’t have anything in particular to say about them.
Regarding the Nepal part of the tour, it was short but sweet. I don’t remember our guide’s name, but he was fine. He didn’t interact with us as much as Wangchuk did. Our driver was fine as well, but the car he had was too small for all of our luggage.
All in all, it was a wonderful trip. Thank you for everything. I’m sure Jon will have some additional insight when he has a chance to respond.
