Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal & Trek to Haibung/Chisapani

Your Kathmandu Valley Ridge Hike begins with a scenic 45‑minute drive to Sundarijal, the gateway to Shivapuri National Park. From there, a stone‑stair hike past the Sundarijal Hydropower Station brings you into the park’s lush oak and rhododendron forest. You’ll pass through Mulkharka, a Tamang village where traditional culture thrives.

As you press on, the trail winds deeper into dense woodland until you reach Haibung—a hilltop lookout offering sweeping views of the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges. Based on your pace and preference, you can either stay overnight in Haibung or continue for an extra hour to the popular viewpoint of Chisapani. Overnight in Haibung/Chisapani.

Hike from Haibung/Chisapani to Nagarkot

Your hike today is mostly gentle, with flat and downhill stretches through dense forests within Shivapuri National Park. Along the way, you’ll pass through traditional villages where panoramic countryside and mountain views unfold around every bend

You’ll gradually descend until you reach Nagarkot, a hilltop town perched at 2,175 m, renowned for its breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over the Himalayas. Overnight in nagarkot.

Hike from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel

The hike begins with a short uphill climb and then gradual along the ridge across villages with amazing views to Namobuddha. It is an important Buddhist pilgrimage sites, legend has that this is the place where the Buddha, in his previous life fed a starving tigress with his body parts. Explore around Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery and the ancient stupa and also visit the Namobuddha view point or take a short half hour ridge walk with views of the valley below. Overnight in Namobuddha.

Hike from Namobuddha to Khopasi – Drive to Panauti & Tour – Drive to Kathmandu

Begin your hike from Namobuddha to the tranquil village of Balthali, descending through lush forests, terraced fields, and traditional settlements. This peaceful journey offers panoramic views of the Himalayan foothills and insights into the local way of life.

After a brief rest in Balthali, continue your hike towards Khopasi, crossing a suspension bridge over the Roshi Khola river. Khopasi is notable for its hydropower station and agricultural significance.

From Khopasi, a short drive will take you to Panauti, an ancient Newari town situated at the confluence of the Roshi and Punyamati rivers. Explore Panauti’s well-preserved temples, traditional architecture, and vibrant local culture. After the tour, drive back to your hotel in Kathmandu, concluding your Kathmandu Valley Ridge Hike (Service ends).
