Denba || Rongmi Drango
Danba or Rongmi Drango (3300m) in Gyarong region of western Sichuan is a small town (Zhanggu Town) with steep crooked roads at the confluence of 2 rivers, deep in the Gyarong valley. Tibetans in the Gyarong valley are distinct from those in Kham and Amdo. Their language is more similar to Qiang and Pumi. In Danba itself there are no less than 4 different Tibetan groups, speaking mutually incomprehensible Tibetan dialects with different customs and traditions. Tall 18th century tower buildings dominate the landscape surrounding the hills, particularly near Supo township, which is downstream on the Dadu River. 26 km from town is the valley of Beautiful Women.
