Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh city is the headquarters of Dibrugarh district in upper Assam, located along the banks and confluence of Brahmaputra, Bibru and Dihing rivers and their wetlands. It is surrounded by tea plantations, tea factories, and rice field and oilseed mills. It is the gateway to the three tea producing districts of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, and Jorhat. These areas account for approximately 50% of India's Assam tea crop and this gives Dibrugarh its rightly earned sobriquet as the Tea city of India. The town is on a narrow plain adjacent to hills and is often threatened by monsoon floods. There is an Airport at Dibrugarh and it is connected by daily flight from Kolkata and Guwahati. It is a business place and ideal for a transit halt on the way to Arunachal Pradesh.
