Dirang

Dirang, situated between Bomdila and Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh doesn't have a whole lot to see but it is a spectacular, relatively low lying valley with many 500-year-old stone houses, ruined Dirang Dzong (fort) and ancient monastery on the hilltop. It is convenient to stop on the way to or from Tawang. The national Yak research center is half-way between Dirang and Tawang. Sangti valley, which is about 9kms away sees endangered back necked cranes during winter months and there is a hot springs short distance away, where local go for a holy dip.
