Dranang || Dratang Monastery
48 km from Gongkar airport, along the road to Tsetang is the turn-off to Dranang (Dratang) Monastery, which is 2km drive inland. This Shakya Monastery has preserved series of frescoes which are unique in Tibet, in that they are said to represent synthesis of Pala Indian style and Central Asian style. The temple complex was first founded in 1081, who is known in Tibetan history as the discoverer of four medical tantras.
