Jaldapara National Park situated at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas near the Indo-Bhutan Border is home to the famous Indian one horned rhino population. The forest is mainly Savannah covered with tall elephant grasses provides a perfect habitat for this species. Besides rhinoceros, the forest is also a home to a wide variety of animals like the Asiatic Elephant, Chital, Deer, Swamp Deer, Sambar, Barking Deer, Spotted Deer, etc., and several residential and migratory birds like Bengal Florican, Peafowl (Peacock), Racket-Tailed Drongo, Paradise Flycatcher, Crested Eagle, Fishing Eagle, Little Cormorant, etc..
