Mindroling Monastery
Mindroling Monastery is 8km inland along Lhasa - Tsetang road, between the Dranang turn-off and the Samye ferry crossing. This is the largest and one of the most important Nyingmpa Monastery in U region. It was founded around 1670 by Terdak Lingpa on the site where in 11th century Kadampa chapel of Tarpaling was built. After the monastery was established, the subsequent heads of the Mindroling were given the title of Minling Trichen. Present Minling Trichen is the twelfth lives in Mindroling branch monastery in Deheradun India. Mindroling has Cham (Mask) dancing on the 10th day of fifth lunar month and on the fourth day of the fourth month.
