Ngadak Monastery
Ngadak Monastery is located at a short distance of about 10 minutes drive from Namchi and is one of the oldest monasteries in Namchi. It was built by Tensung Namgyal during the period of Chogyal Gyurmed Namgyal. This monastery was constructed as a palace to Her Highness Pendi Ongmu. A new monastery is in under construction as the old structure suffered damage during a earthquake in the 17th century. It is believed that whoever visits this monastery has to make a promise to visit again. Therefore it is called Ngadak which means promise in the local language.
