The Norbugang Coronation Throne is of great importance to the people of Sikkim because it was here Phuntsog Namgyal, the first Chogyal (King) of Sikkim was crowned by the three wise lamas and this is also the place where the three lamas gathered to preach Buddhism. This site has a park that has a prayer hall, a prayer wheel and a stupa. There is also a small holy lake called the Kartok lake, the entire place is adorned with prayer flags which gives a feeling of divinity in the air.
