Paravur and Chendamangalam
Paravur or Parur is about 35km north of Kochi and Chendamangalam or Chennamangalam is located 4kms away from Parur. The drive to the village is quite beautiful. The place is also unique in that there are Hindu Temples, Churches, Mosque, also the remains of Jewish Synagogue, all within one-kilometer radius. The Jewish synagogue in here was built in 1614AD, but the one you see now is completely renovated. In the courtyard behind the synagogue it's possible to find old Jewish graves. Apart from this Synagogue, Paravur village boasts of Kottekavu Church, one of the 9 churches established by St.Thomas in Kerala in 52AD and 450yr old Paliam Palace, the residence of hereditary prime minister to the king of Kochi, that houses a collection of historical documents and relics.
