Pelkor Chode Monastery
Pelkor Chode monastery lies beside the Kumbum. While not so appealing in its external look, there is much of interest inside. In the main assembly hall, there are two thrones, one for the Dalai Lama and one for the main Sakya lama. The main chapel, Tsangkhang , is at the back of the assembly hall with a statue of Sakyamuni flanked by deities, amidst some impressive wood carvings - look for the two peacocks perched on a beam.
