Pushkar-the holy city is situated at 14 km North West from Ajmer. It is often called "Tirth Raj" - the king of pilgrimage sites - and has in recent years become a popular destination for tourists. There is a sense of enchantment in Pushkar, in the strange chants of Hindu Brahmins (priests) in bright saffron sheets, in its 600 year old temples, and in the faith of pilgrims praying on the shores of the Pushkar Lake. When you cross into that atmosphere, witnessing the celebration of faith and into the lives of Hindu traditions in its purest form, you will find yourself into the exalted world of Pushkar. This is one of the few temples in the world dedicated to the Hindu God Brahma. Pushkar is also famed for its annual Pushkar Camel Fair which is not less than an extravaganza in its own right.
