Rechung-puk Monastery
The hermitage of Rechung Puk is approached by 1 hour trek uphill, from the road 3km south of Tsetang. This is the retreat of Milarepa's illustrious disciple Rechung Dorje Drak (1083-1161), who also practiced asceticism and meditation like his master. Later in 15th century, Yogin Heruka Sangay Gyeltshen is said to have composed the well know classic Tibetan texts; Life of Milarepa and the Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa, while residing at Rechung Puk. The newly restored temple contains images of Milarepa, Marpa, Rechungpa, Heruka and Padmasambhava. There are rock-foot print attributed to Milarepa, Rechung, Heruka and first Karmpa.
