Sanga Choling monastery is situated on a hill top opposite to the Pemayangtse monastery. It is about 45 minutes walk through thick forested area. Built in 1697, by Gyalwa Lhatsum Chempo, and is exceedingly acclaimed among the followers of the Nyingmapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. This monastery is one of the oldest and one of the most important monasteries in Sikkim. Pilgrimage to Sanga Choeling Monastery is undertaken by many Buddhist devotees as part of a religious and heritage circuit.
