Shiqu
Shiqu or Serxu or Serhul (4050m) sits just across the Qinghai border in Ganzi Tibet Autonomous Prefecture in northwest Sichuan province. The area around Shiqu is all nomadic with rich pastureland covered with wildflowers during the summer. The town is located 140km from Jeykundo and 220km from Manigango. There are 43 monasteries within Shershul county, reflecting the diverse tradition of Buddhism and Bon. Around 20km west of the town, along the way to Yushu is a large complex of Sershul Tekchen Dargyeling monastery. This is the largest and most important Gelukpa monastery in the region with around 800 monks and six colleges. The complex has many temples, halls and residential building that give image of monastic town.
