Upper Subansiri
Daporijo (600m) is the head quarter of Upper Subansiri district, located on the right bank of Subansiri River, with picturesque villages nearby. It is the junction of three important tribes; Hill Miris, Tagins and Adi-Gallongs. Hill Miri and Tagin tribes were legendary warriors of yore, and now peaceable farmers. The Hill Miris are fair in complexion and their main concentration is spread over Raga Circle. They weave elegant garments and are fond of dance and music.
