Buli Mani festival is held in Buli temple. Buli temple or lhakhang is located on a little knoll in Chhume valley, Bumthang. Buli lhakhang was founded in the 15th century by Choeying, the heart son of the great religious figure Dorji Lingpa (1346-1405) and extended in the early 20th century. Recently it was also restored by an American NGO, the American Himalayan Foundation between 2000-5. Buli plays an important role for all of this part of the Chhume valley and holds a festival the Bula Mani every two years on the 16th day of the first month of the Bhutanese calendar.
