Mon town at approx.1000m in the land of Chen and Mon villages, is the main center of Mon district. Mon district is the home of the Konyaks tribes. Konyak are a Naga tribe known for their valour and head-hunting practices. They are recognised among other Naga people by their tattooed face and hands. Konyaks are also found in Arunachal, Assam and Myanmar. Konyaks still ruled by hereditary chiefs known as Anghs.
