Hotel Shanker is a palace, a palace built at the turn of the century by a Rana Maharaja with a penchant for French architecture, international cuisine and Eastern hospitality. It was converted into a hotel in 1964. The hotel reflects aesthetic beauty of the historical past, a visible gradeur perceived in the traditional architecture and the comfort experienced by the Maharaja's of Nepal
There are 4 floors with 94 air conditioned rooms including 10 elegant suites. All rooms have attached baths, hot and cold water, mini fridge, CCTV, direct dial telephone, multi channel music, laundry and 24 hour room service. There is one restaurant, two bars and a coffee shop.
It is about 5-10 minutes walk from Thamel.
