Langtang Gosainkunda Sundarijal Trek is an extraordinary journey that takes you across the pristine landscape of the Langtang valley, the sacred Gosainkunda lakes, meadows with exceptional views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and other peaks along with the opportunity to experience the unique culture, tradition, and lifestyle of the ethnic Tamang and Sherpa people along the way. Unlike other regions, the Langtang region is more pristine, unspoiled and the trekking trails are less crowded, more peaceful, and quiet where you will get to observe different cultural experiences and diverse flora and fauna. Langtang Gosaikunda trek is one of the easiest treks nearby the Kathmandu valley and it is perfect for even those who have no trekking experience.

Lantang Gosainkunda Sundarijal Trek starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. The trail ascends following the Langtang river towards Langtang Himal Range past forests, pristine alpine meadows, yak pastures, and several small settlements to Langtang village. From here the trail continues to Kyanjin Gompa, which houses the biggest monastery in the entire Langtang region. Kyangjin Ri provides 360-degree mountain views, we retrace back to Lama Hotel. The trail then follows through Thulo Syabru, Sing Gompa across Lauribin La pass to reach the holy lakes of Gosainkunda and then continue further to the beautiful Helambu region and finally back to Kathmandu via Sundarijal.

Outline Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival in Kathmandu.
Upon arrival at the airport, our representative/guide will meet you and transfer you to your designated hotel. Depending on your arrival time you may either relax at your hotel or take a self-guided tour around the city. Evening dinner at a traditional Nepali Restaurant. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 2. In Kathmandu(trek preparation).
Today in the first half, we will visit some of the major UNESCO World Heritage Sites within the city, which may include Pasupatinath temple, Boudanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. The later part of the day we shall keep as preparation and planning for the trek. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 3. Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1440m/6-7 hrs)
Today we drive to Syabrubesi the starting point of our trek. The road is quite scenic with views of the Annapurna Mountains in the west and Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and the numerous peaks ahead. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 4. Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,420m/5-6 hrs)
Today the trail goes along the Langtang river across forests of oak and rhododendron, verdant meadows, and several Tamang villages. With a stunning vista of great Himalayan peaks and finally ascends through Rimche and reaches Lama Hotel. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 5. Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village(Sherpagaon/Mundu 3430m/5-6 hrs)
We begin with a gentle ascend above the Langtang Khola but soon turns into a steep climb. The trail goes through rhododendron and pine forest with the view of the Langtang Lirung and further up to the meadows of Ghoda Tabela. Further on, the route opens up into a wide valley of yak pastures and scattered Tamang villages with water-driven mills and prayer wheels. Depending on the time we shall either halt for the night at Sherpagaon or Mundu village. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 6. Mundu/Sherpagaon to Kyanjin Gompa (3,810m/3-4 hrs)
Today's trek is a short and easy one past tiny villages, stone-built houses on a gentle path, and reach Kyanjin Gompa for lunch. After lunch, we could either choose to rest or visit the monastery, cheese factory and explore around the village with beautiful views of Langtang Lirung, Kyanjin RI, Tserko Ri, Langshisha Ri, Yala Peak, and others. Day 7. Excursion to Tserko Ri (4984m/5-6 hrs)
After breakfast, trek for about 5 hours to summit the Tserko Ri. The trail begins on a flat path but soon turns into a steep climb, the climb gets more difficult and tough until the summit. The summit of Tserko Ri provides a stunning 360° view of Langtang valley along with the amazing views of the Yala Peak (5,520m), Langtang Ri (7,205m), Langtang Lirung (7,227m), and Naya Khang (5,844m) making it the most unforgettable experience of our life. After spending some time at the summit, we will descend and retrace back to Kyanjin Gompa. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 8. Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel(5-6 hrs)
Today we retrace our steps back to Lama Hotel. The trail is mostly downhill passing through forests and villages with the view of the snow-covered peaks along the way. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 9. Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2230m/6hrs)
Today we begin with a gentle descent down to the river through beautiful pine and Juniper forest and then it is a steep climb to Thulo Syabru. Thulo Syabru is a lovely village that has preserved the ethnic custom, culture, and traditions of the Tamang people. Enjoy the magnificent view of nature with splendid views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, and other peaks. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 10. Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa(3320m/5hrs)
Leaving Thulo Syabru we ascend steeply uphill through forests of oak, hemlock and rhododendron across pasture lands to the ridge at Phoprang. And from here the trail goes along the ridge top and finally to Sing Gompa.

Day 11. Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda(4380m/5-6hr)
Today we start with a steep climb up to a ridge with a great view of the Langtang Lirung Himal. The trail to Lauribina la pass is a steep one over harsh mountain surroundings. After walking for about three hours we finally reach the Lauribina la pass. After a short break at the Pass, we continue our journey and reach a small ridge, from where we shall have the first views of the holy lakes. There are about a dozen lakes in the Gosaikunda basin of which Saraswatikunda, Bhairavkunda, and Gosainkunda are prominent. Overnight in trekkers lodge

Day 12. Gosaikunda to Ghopte(3440m/6 hrs).
After witnessing the beautiful sunrise view along with the panoramic view of the Himalayas, we retrace our step back to Lauribina la pass. From here it is a steep descent over a rough trail with some up and down on several stretches to Ghopte. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 13. Gopte - Tharepati – Magingoth(3420m/5-6hrs)
From the ridge at Ghopte, the trail descends and ascends several times across ravines and rocks and then ascends through rhododendron, oak, and juniper forest to Tharepati. From Tharepati, the trail passes through pine and rhododendron forest to Magingoth. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 14. Magingoth-Kutumsang-Golbhanjyang(2140m/5-6hrs)
We descend through fir and rhododendron forest with beautiful views of snow-capped peaks until Kutumsang and then finally to the charming village of Golbhanjyang. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 15. Golbhanjyang-Chisapani(2075m/5hrs)
Continue along with the forested ridge climbing to Thodang Betini, Chipling, and then descend to Patibhanjyang. From Pati Bhanjyang continue to Chisopani for the night. Overnight in trekkers lodge.

Day 16. Chisapani-Sundarijal(4hrs)-Kathmandu(1hr)
The trail climbs gently to a ridge and then descends through the forest to Sundarijal. Upon arrival, we will board a private vehicle and drive to Kathmandu. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 17. Departure.
Transfer to the airport for departure.
