Lhedi to Thanza || Lhedi to Thanza Trek (Lunana)
Approx. 17km / 7-8 hours / 400m ascent
The trail follows the north bank of Pho Chhu River, past several small farms to Chozo village (4090m). There is a small Dzong in the village with some lay monks (Gomchens). Continue further up Chozo, as the valley widens and leads through lush yak pastures, which soon gives way to fine glacial sand. Leaving the river bed, we climb briefly and see the village of Thanza (4100m) ahead and Tochena (4150) on the opposite bank. Zongophu Gang (7100m), which is also known as Table Mountain, forms an immense, 3000m-high wall of snow and ice, only few kilometers behind the village. Our campsite will be Thanza or Tochena.
