Punakha and Wangdue || Punakha and Wangdue Phodrang
Punakha and Wangdue Phodrang, often mentioned together due to their close proximity, share a picturesque valley at an elevation of approximately 1300 meters, blessed with a pleasant semitropical climate. Punakha holds historical significance as Bhutan's former winter capital—a tradition still upheld by the monastic community. They relocate to Thimphu during the summer and return to the serene Punakha Dzong for the winter months. The main town center of Punakha, Khuruthang, is conveniently located just a 10-minute drive from Wangdue's Bajothang.
