The drive from Punakha to Trongsa spans about 133 kilometers and takes roughly 5 to 6 hours, offering a scenic blend of natural and cultural beauty. The journey passes through Wangdue Phodrang, known for its dzong and picturesque surroundings. The road ascends through the forested region of Nobding and reaches the high-altitude Pelela Pass at 3,420 meters. From there, the road descends through a nomadic valley into the temperate Trongsa valley, with its broad-leaved forests and the impressive Trongsa Dzong.
