The Everest Region

The Everest region also known as the Khumbu region is located to the northeastern part of Nepal. Named after the world's highest mountain Mt. Everest, the Everest region is a world of its own with vast glaciers, icefalls, high mountains and deep valleys. The Everest region includes four peaks above eight thousand like the Makalu, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and the Everest and several other peaks below eight thousand like Amadablam, Mera peak, Lobuche peak, Island peak, Nuptse etc. It is surrounded by two national parks Sagarmatha national Park and Makalu Barun National Park, rich in bio-diversity, the Everest region is home to wide variety of animal, bird species along with multiple flora. The Everest region is famous for some of the best trekking routes in Nepal including the famous Everest Base Camp Trek. The trek passes through legendary Sherpa villages, old Buddhist monasteries and is a mix of deep cultural and spiritual experiences.
