Trek - Ugencholing to Mesethang

Cross the bridge over Tang Chhu to the quaint village of Ghambling and climb up the ridge to Ugyenchholing. This takes about an hour away from the main trek route(optional). Several large chortens with prayer wheels turned by water greet as you approach the 16th century Ugen Chholing manor (2800m) built by Deb Thokye Dorji. It was used by the descendent of the family until few years back and recently it was turned into museum to preserve its legacy and provide a place for religious studies. The structures include temple for worship, servant's quarters, residential quarters, storage for grains etc. The exhibits in the building are captioned with informative descriptions of the life style and art of a Bhutanese noble family. After the visit descend down to the valley floor and walk along the dirt road to Mesethang, en-route visit Tang Rimochen Lhakhang and a local school. Instead of going towards Ugyen Choling, you can head down the valley following Tang Chu river to Tang village (2640)and follow the feeder road to Mesethang. Approxiamate distance 12kms/5-6 hrs (7 hours if you do Ugyencholing)
